Osaka Shopping

I did a little bit of shopping today, went up to Shinsaibashi and strolled through the massive undercover malls, packed with people on a National Holiday. I went to Zara, H & M, Uniqlo... bought a few things for work, but nothing exciting. The lines in H&M were too crazy to contemplate actually purchasing anything there.

I went to Daimaru and bought bread from the food court- it's the only place I've found that sells wholemeal or wholegrain bread- the stuff in the supermarkets is frighteningly white and cut as thick as a sponge- each loaf has only 6 slices. I also bought some stuff from Clinique and was subjected to the best customer service I've ever had in a department store makeup counter ever. I selected my products, was shown to a seat and my other bags were placed on a seat alongside me. The sales assistant then printed off a receipt and brought it to me, I gave her some money and she took it to another desk and then brought me back my change. Then she wrapped and bagged my items, threw in some samples and bowed. It was amazing.

Birthday number 2!

I'm writing from Osaka, where it is hot and sticky and the food is either noodles or fried chicken and good French wine only costs about $8 for a bottle. We have been here nearly three weeks now... most of that time has been taken up with administrative tasks- all the paperwork required to settle in to a new country.

It was my REAL birthday last week and I celebrated Osaka style with some new friends, but before that I had another party (number 2 of 3) in Sydney. Dinner, drinks, karaoke at Ding Dong Dang at 2am.

Bunny and I obviously enjoying karaoke. I'm her bridesmaid in June next year! Can't wait for a St Tropez wedding!!!


We stayed in Bondi for a week and took a few relaxing strolls around the beach, gold course etc




I miss Sydney... I miss the open spaces and fresh air and that general bright feeling that everyone has. Osaka is very grey and square... I would love to feel some grass beneath my feet!
